1. Red Fort

The Red Fort of Delhi is a most famous historical building. Delhi’s most famous monument, The Red Fort is one of the best place to visit in Delhi , was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1648. The main reason for naming this building Red Fort  was that it was built with red sandstone.

The red stone gives this fort its unique name and beautiful color. A museum has also been built inside this fort , where the clothes of the Mughal rulers, their scriptures, and other valuables are kept.

 2. Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid is the most famous mosque in India.It is located in Old Delhi. It is also known as Masjid-e-Jahan Numa. It was one of the most important historical monuments built during the rule of the Mughals in India.The construction of Jama Masjid was started by Shah Jahan in 1650. It took six years to complete.

It was built by some 5,000 workers. It consists of large gates, four towers, and two minarets. Entrance to the courtyard of the mosque from the east, north, and south Thousands of people gather for Eid prayers in Jama Masjid.

 3.QUTUB MINAAR

Qutub Minar is located in Delhi, India. Qutub Minar, the tallest stone tower in India, was built by Qutb-ud-deen-Aibek in the 12th century. After Qutub-ud-deen-aibek, it was completed by his successor, Iltutmish.

It is over 72 metres high and built in red sandstone. It contains 379 stairs to reach the top, and the diameter of the base is 143 metres, while the last stone is 2.7 metres. The Qutub Minar is an important monument with intricate carvings on its walls and verses from the Holy Quran. It is a major source of attraction for tourists around the world.

 4. Akshardham

Swami narayan temple is the full name of Akshardham Temple. It’s in India’s capital city, Delhi. On November 6th, 2005, the Akshardham temple was constructed. Its built using pink sandstone from Rajasthan and carrara marble from Italy.

6. Humayun’s Tomb

Humayun’s Tomb is a beautiful historical monument located in Delhi, India. Humayun’s Tomb was built by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and Sayyed Muhammad. The construction was initiated by Humayun’s second wife, Hamida Banu Begum. It took seven years to complete the tomb.

Construction of this monument started in 1565 and was completed in 1572. The height of this monument is 47 meters. Redstone, yellow, and black marble were used in the construction of this mausoleum. The Tomb was registered on the list of UNESEO world heritage sites in 1993. The garden is square-shaped, with a tomb standing in the four central squares. The architecture of the tomb is similar to Persian architecture. The tomb is now under the protection of archaeologists.

7. Bangla sahib Gurudwara

Bangla Sahib Gurudwara is one of the historical Gurudwaras in India. This Gurudwara is located near Connaught Place, in central Delhi. Around 1783, General Bhagel Singh built this gurudwara. It held historical and religious significance for Sikhs.

Although now in ruins, the fort has high walls and lofty gateways. One tower in the fort housed a library, from which the Mugal Emperor Humayun slipped to his death. Delhi was the capital of the Mughals until the Mughal emperor, Bahdur Shah Zafar, in 1857.
